Dhaka, Nov. 1 -- The High Court on Sunday granted bail to former lawmaker Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman in a case filed over allegedly obstructing government work and misbehaving with officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

A High Court bench led by Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the order after hearing his bail petition.

Senior lawyer Mohammad Shishir Manir appeared for Akhtaruzzaman, who was expelled from BNP several times and joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in December 2025, during the hearing.

Earlier, on October 26, the Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court-5 rejected his bail petition.
