Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Thursday said the government is taking steps to prevent artificial increases in commodity prices and to dismantle syndicates that have controlled the sector for the past 10 to 15 years.

"Instead of following traditional methods, we will ensure the security of business and trade through new and innovative approaches," he said.

The minister made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with members of the board of directors of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at his ministry office in the afternoon.
