Dhaka, May 5 -- All additional secretaries and equivalent-ranking officials of the government and state-owned institutions have been instructed to travel by economy class instead of business, club or executive class during official foreign trips as part of austerity measures.

The Finance Division issued a notice in this regard following a letter from the Prime Minister's Office dated April 29, 2026.

The Finance Division said the decision was taken in view of the government's efforts to contain expenditure and ensure prudent use of public funds.
