, Oct. 31 -- The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has fixed the medical examination fee for workers seeking employment in Malaysia at Tk 8,000 per person.

No medical centre would be allowed to charge more than the fixed amount for the required medical tests, said a press release issued on Wednesday.

The ministry urged Malaysia-bound workers not to pay more than Tk 8,000 under any circumstances and warned them against contacting brokers or middlemen for medical examinations.

It also clarified that no medical centre would operate under any specific recruiting agency.

Selected workers would be free to undergo medical examinations at any authorised medical centre.
