, June 21 -- A Bogura tribunal on Sunday sentenced five people to death and five others to 10 years' imprisonment for killing an eight-year-old boy in 2018.

Judge of the Bogura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Anwarul Haque handed down the punishment.

The condemned convicts are Abul Kalam Azad, Sagar, Selim Islam, Mehedi Hasan and Raju Islam of Khadas village in Shajahanpur upazila.

Of them, Sagar and Selim were tried in absentia.

Those who received 10-year imprisonment are Sajib Hasan, Mafizul Islam, Zahid Hasan, Borhan Ali and Bayezid Hasan of the village.

According to the prosecution, Enamul Haque, father of victim Rifat Hossain, had been living abroad.
