, Sept. 28 -- Five members of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) have been suspended following the escape of an alleged top drug dealer of Mohammadpur in the capital while being taken from a Dhaka court to Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur.

Md Taherul Huq Chouhan, acting commissioner of GMP, said a three-member committee has also been formed to investigate the incident.

"An accused escaped while being taken from the Dhaka court to Kashimpur Jail. According to our preliminary findings, the prisoner repeatedly asked to use the restroom. He escaped after being taken out of the vehicle," he said.

Prison sources said 30 accused were taken from Kashimpur Jail to the Dhaka Metropolitan Court on Sunday morning for court proceedings.
