Dhaka, April 5 -- member committee has been formed to investigate the fire at a tin-shed gas lighter factory in Kadamtali of Keraniganj that left at least five people dead.

The committee is headed by the Director (Operations and Maintenance) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), said Shahjahan Sikder, Deputy Assistant Director of the FSCD headquarters media cell.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.

The fire broke out around 1pm at the factory, which manufactured gas lighters.

Seven firefighting units rushed to the scene around 1:16pm after receiving the information and brought the blaze under control around 2:30pm, he added.

The fire was completely extinguished at 4:44pm.
