Dhaka, March 30 -- Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) director Md Afzal Naser in a case related to 2024 July-August movement.

He has been shown arrested in a case filed with Mirpur Police Station in connection with the movement, said DB Joint Commissioner (North) Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan on Monday.

Naser was picked up early in the morning from a house in Mirpur DOHS in the capital.

Afzal Naser served as a DGFI director from March 2006 to March 2008.

He was allegedly among those involved in the torture of political leaders and businessmen while they were in custody during his tenure in DGFI.
