Eid rush swells traffic on Dhaka-Chattogram highway
, May 23 -- The pressure of homebound Eid travelers has increased on the 105-kilometer stretch of Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Cumilla.
The number of cattle-carrying and goods-laden trucks has also risen ahead of Eid.
Travellers and drivers said the growing number of passenger vehicles and freight trucks is putting added pressure on the highway, causing delays in reaching destinations compared to normal travel times.
There was no major traffic congestion on the 105-kilometer stretch from the Meghna-Gomti Bridge toll plaza in Daudkandi to Padua in Chauddagram as of 1100 am on Saturday when this report was filed.
However, vehicles were seen moving slowly at different points due to heavy traffic volume.
