Dhaka, May 14 -- Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched a special training programme for imams and meat processors ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, focusing on proper animal slaughter, meat processing, hide preservation and sacrificial waste management.

DNCC administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan inaugurated the programme at Mirpur in the capital on Thursday morning.

Addressing the event, the administrator said participants must follow the methods taught in the training while slaughtering animals.

He said animal hides play a significant role in the country's economy and stressed proper preservation and processing. Adequate salt will be distributed free of cost for preserving hides, he said.
