Dhaka university, Oct. 11 -- The 54th convocation of the University of Dhaka (DU) will be held on January 26 next year.

A meeting was held at the auditorium of Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Sunday to finalise preparations for holding the convocation in a smooth, orderly and festive atmosphere.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is set to preside over the ceremony while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has consented to attend as the guest of honour, according to a press release of the university.

Professor Dr Atsushi Sunami, president of Japan's Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), will attend as the convocation speaker and receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
