Dhaka, May 21 -- kilometre traffic jam, triggered by a road accident, choked the Cumilla section of the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on Thursday morning, causing immense suffering for commuters.

The gridlock, which began early Thursday, stretched from Putia in Eliotganj of Daudkandi to the Meghna-Gomti Bridge on the Dhaka-bound carriageway.

This marks the third consecutive day that heavy traffic paralysed the highway from dawn until well into the afternoon, causing concerns and anxieties among home-bound passengers ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha holiday.
