Deputy Speaker urges accountability for failure to enforce child laws
Dhaka, Oct. 4 -- Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal on Sunday stressed the need for ensuring proper enforcement of laws to protect child rights by holding the responsible accountable in case of failure.
"In cases of domestic violence where children are subjected to abuse and exploitation, law enforcement agencies unfortunately become compromised. There is a lack of scrutiny (monitoring) in our country regarding the extent to which executive officials are actually fulfilling their responsibilities," he said.
The Deputy Speaker made these remarks at a dialogue titled 'What Can We Do to Eliminate Child Labour', arranged by Action for Social Development (ASD) at the KIB Complex in the capital.
