, Aug. 25 -- The dengue situation has deteriorated in Khulna division, with 215 new patients hospitalised with the viral disease in 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

Although no dengue-related death was reported during the period, a total of 575 dengue patients are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals across the division, said Khulna Divisional Director of Health Dr Sheikh Md Mosharraf Hossain.

Khulna district is the worst affected area in the division, according to health officials.

Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of Khulna city BNP demanded that Khulna be declared a dengue epidemic-affected district, alleging that the city corporation has failed to play an effective role in preventing the spread of the disease.
