Dhaka, Oct. 4 -- Six more people died of dengue and 2,089 new patients were hospitalised in the country in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Sunday.

With the latest fatalities, the dengue death toll has risen to 262 in the country this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among them, three died in Khulna division while two deaths were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation and one in Mymensingh division, it said.

Of the total deaths recorded this year, 47.7 percent were men and 52.3 percent were women.

Since January 1 this year, a total of 86,458 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 80,347 have recovered.
