Dhaka, June 11 -- The government has proposed an allocation of Tk 42,497 crore for the Defence Ministry in the national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, an increase of Tk 1,646 crore from the previous fiscal year.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury announced the proposed allocation while presenting the national budget in Parliament on Thursday.

The Defence Ministry was allocated Tk 40,851 crore in the budget for FY2025-26.

In addition, the finance minister proposed Tk 44 crore for the Armed Forces Division in FY2026-27, slightly lower than the Tk 47 crore allocated in the previous fiscal year.
