Chattogram, Oct. 13 -- Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sheikh Shariful Alam was rescued on Tuesday evening after remaining confined to the Administrative Building-2 for nearly 30 hours amid a student blockade demanding his resignation.

He was taken to Chattogram city by ambulance around 6:30pm in the presence of the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Chattogram as he fell ill.

Later, he was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

The VC and several others inside the building had been suffering from prolonged power and water shortages due to the blockade.
