Pabna, Sept. 9 -- What was meant to be a final shopping trip for their son's wedding turned into tragedy as a couple was killed in a road accident in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Wednesday evening, just a day before the marriage ceremony.

The deceased were identified as Anwar Malitha, 40, and his wife Swapna Khatun, 35, of Malithapara under Sahapur union in the upazila.

Their eldest son Siam Hossain was scheduled to get married on Thursday.

Anwar and Swapna went to the market on a motorcycle on Wednesday afternoon to buy wedding items. After completing their shopping, they were returning home when their motorcycle collided with a truck at Alhaj Mor in the upazila headquarters around 7:00pm.

Swapna died on the spot.
