Dhaka, Aug. 24 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has sought a seven-day remand of film actor Ashraful Haque Don in a murder case filed over the death of film star Salman Shah.

Sub-Inspector Shah Alam of the prosecution department confirmed the matter on Monday.

He said CID Inspector Mujibur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the remand petition on August 20.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana fixed August 27 for a hearing on the remand plea.

Immigration police arrested Don at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on August 9 and later handed him over to the CID. He was sent to jail the same day. A court rejected his bail petition on August 12.
