, Aug. 24 -- The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Monday approved proposals to import a total of 365,000 tonnes of fertiliser at a combined cost of around Tk 2,562 crore from Saudi Arabia, Russia, Morocco, Canada and domestic producer KAFCO.

The approvals were given at a CCGP meeting held at the Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

Of the total, 80,000 tonnes will be urea, 115,000 tonnes MOP, 80,000 tonnes DAP and 60,000 tonnes TSP.

The committee approved the import of 40,000 tonnes of granular urea from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company of Saudi Arabia at a cost of Tk 188.66 crore. The price has been set at $380.83 per tonne.
