Dhaka, Nov. 2 -- The Cabinet on Monday gave approval - both in principle and final - to the draft Special Solar Power Installation Act, 2026, aimed at expediting the expansion of solar power installations across the country.

The approval came at the Cabinet meeting held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in the chair.

The draft law was placed to turn the Special Solar Power Ordinance, 2026, already promulgated, into an act.

"The draft law was placed before the Cabinet meeting for the approval. The Cabinet cleared it subject to vetting by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division," Cabinet Secretary Dr Nasimul Ghani said while briefing reporters after the meeting.
