Budget contains necessary measures to support competitiveness of RMG sector: Commerce Minister
Sangsad Bhaban, June 23 -- Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir on Tuesday said Bangladesh remains heavily dependent on the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, which accounts for about 84 per cent of the country's export earnings, and the government has undertaken a series of measures to maintain its position in the global market and explore new export destinations.
The minister disclosed the information in Parliament while responding to a question of BNP MP from reserved women seat Nilufar Chowdhury Moni regarding the performance of the country's apparel sector and the government's initiatives to strengthen export competitiveness.
