BRTA registration demanded for battery-run auto rickshaw
Dhaka, Aug. 10 -- Bangladesh Electric Battery & Motor Chalito Auto Rickshaw Auto Bike Service Ltd on Monday demanded registration of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to avoid harassment on the road.
"We are trying to pay our taxes and operate legally," said Managing Director Abul Kalam at a press conference at the national press club in the city.
He said their vehicles are being seized by BRTA officials, labelling them illegal. Later, they are to provide Tk 3,000 for releasing a seized auto-rickshaw.
Kalam said the BRTA can play an active role to formulate a clear legal policy for the unregistered battery-run rickshaws. If the government registered the vehicles, it can collect Tk 8,000 revenue from each auto rickshaw, he said...
