, June 7 -- laden truck fell into the Kangsha River in the Goatola area of Dhobaura upazila in Mymensingh district as a bailey bridge on a regional highway collapsed early Sunday, severing direct road communication between the upazila and the city.

The bridge broke down around 4:00am when the truck carrying sand attempted to cross it, causing immense hardship for thousands of residents.

According to local sources, the bridge, located near the Goatola Bazar on the Dhobaura-Mymensingh regional highway, had long been in a vulnerable condition.

Traffic movement had been maintained through repeated temporary repairs using bamboo and wooden supports.
