Dhaka, Oct. 13 -- BNP will form monitoring committees at the district, upazila and municipal levels to oversee arrangements for the smooth, peaceful and festive celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the party's Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince said on Tuesday.

"We have decided to form similar monitoring committees at the district, upazila and municipal levels. These committees will include our party leaders as well as members of the local Hindu community who are involved in organising the puja," Prince said.

He disclosed the plan at a press conference after a meeting of the BNP-formed Durga Puja Monitoring Committee at the party's central office.
