Dhaka, May 15 -- clean sweep, the BNP-backed panel secured 13 out of 14 posts in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election for the 2026-2027 term, while the Jamaat-backed panel won a member post.

AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon of the BNP-backed panel was elected president, while Mohammad Ali from the same panel won the secretary post.

The results were announced around 2:00am on Friday by Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhury, the convener of the election sub-committee.

A total of 4,048 votes were cast in the two-day election held on May 13 and 14 at the SCBA auditorium. Lawyers backed by the Awami League, which faces a ban on its activities, did not participate in the election.
