Sangsad Bhaban, July 7 -- The government on Tuesday placed Bogura University Bill, 2026 in Parliament, aiming to establish a full-fledged public university in Bogura by replacing the earlier law that envisaged a science and technology university but was never implemented.

The bill was introduced by Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon and it was sent to the respective parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny.

The committee was asked to submit its report within three working days.

According to the statement of objectives attached to the bill, the Bogura Science and Technology University Act, 2001, although published in the official gazette on July 15, 2001, was never brought into force.
