Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- A Dhaka court on Thursday sent a 17-year-old boy, who was allegedly at the wheel of a car that ran over a construction worker in Baridhara of the city, to a child development centre in Tongi, Gazipur, with the case reportedly being settled for Tk 800,000.

Judge Md Abdul Moktadir of Juvenile Court-8 in Dhaka passed the order when Sub-Inspector Arefin Islam of Gulshan Police Station, also the investigating officer of the case, produced the boy before the court and sought an order to keep him at the child development centre.

Lawyer Alamgir Hossain said Tk 100,000 was provided for the burial expenses, while the remaining amount was given considering the future needs of the elderly parents of the deceased.
