Sangsad Bhaban, June 24 -- Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday told Parliament that a total of Tk 75,903 crore has been provided to banks as emergency liquidity support till June 6 last.

He came up with the information while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Musammat Shammi Akther (Women Seat-22) in the House with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad in the chair.

The minister said Bangladesh Bank is providing emergency liquidity support at different times to the banks that are unable to return the depositors' money due to the liquidity crisis.

"A total of Tk 75,903.11 crore has been provided to banks as emergency liquidity assistance till June 6," he said.
