, March 26 -- The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 55th anniversary of the Great Independence and National Day with due solemnity and festive spirit on Thursday.

The day began with the hoisting of the national flag at the Embassy premises by Bangladesh Ambassador Md. Shafiqur Rahman, followed by a special prayer for the salvation of the martyrs of the Liberation War and for the continued peace and progress of Bangladesh.

A discussion session on the significance of the Great Independence and National Day was also held, during which messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read aloud.
