Dhaka, Oct. 3 -- A Dhaka court on Saturday granted one-day remand to Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman, a former lawmaker and leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, in a case filed over alleged disorder and obstruction of government duties at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Al-Beruni Mir passed the order after a hearing in the afternoon, said Additional Public Prosecutor of the Dhaka Metropolitan Court Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon.

Earlier, the investigation officer in the case, Sub-Inspector Majedul Islam of Airport Police Station, sought five days' remand for Akhtaruzzaman.
