, March 7 -- The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strengthened patrols and intelligence monitoring in various points of Benapole border to prevent possible fuel smuggling.

Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commanding officer of BGB-49 Battalion, said additional BGB personnel have been deployed to intensify surveillance in the border area following the rising international fuel prices and global market instability.

BGB sources said the BGB-49 Battalion of Jessore has taken special measures since Thursday night at Benapole land port as well as the Sharsha and Chowgachha border points to curb the illegal transport of diesel and petrol.
