, Oct. 10 -- Actor Imran Khan and his girlfriend Lekha Washington were among more than 400 people detained in Mumbai during protests linked to the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Police detained protesters at August Kranti Maidan and other locations across the city to prevent unauthorised gatherings.

Before his detention, Imran told ANI that he had joined the protest as a citizen to question restrictions on freedom of movement and the suppression of people's voices. He said he was not representing any organisation or making specific demands.
