Dhaka, Nov. 2 -- Acting Foreign Minister Humaiun Kobir and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of eminent educationist Md Nurul Alam, father of Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam.

Nurul Alam, a former Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Chittagong, died of old-age complications on October 31 at the age of 86.

In a condolence message, Humaiun Kobir said Nurul Alam had served in several important positions during his distinguished teaching career, including as a college principal and university dean.

"His contributions as an educationist are immense," he said, paying tribute to the late educationist's dedication and professional achievements.
