, May 17 -- At least eight people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus overturned on an intercity road in Iran's southern Bushehr province on Sunday, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

The Red Crescent said six rescue teams were rushed to the scene soon after the accident. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals and medical centres for treatment.

Iran's semi-offical Fars News Agency reported that the bus was carrying employees of the South Pars Gas Company.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
