, Oct. 30 -- As many as 758 of the 1,464 government primary schools in Gaibandha are operating without head teachers, affecting classroom teaching and administrative activities at the institutions, particularly in remote and char areas.

According to the District Primary Education Office, the vacancies are spread across all seven upazilas of the district.

Of the 259 government primary schools in Sundarganj, 89 have no head teacher. The figure is 111 out of 171 in Saghata, 82 out of 199 in Sadullapur, 125 out of 215 in Palashbari, 164 out of 270 in Gobindaganj, 81 out of 129 in Fulchhari and 106 out of 221 in Gaibandha Sadar.
