Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- Police have detained 624 teenagers and youths in a coordinated drive against teen gangs in Cumilla district.

Cumilla Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfur Rahman on Thursday said teenagers and young people have recently been found involved in various criminal activities, creating a negative impact on society.

Simultaneous drives were conducted under all 18 police stations of the district, including different areas of Cumilla city and places where harassment by unruly youths has been reported, he said.

Senior officials of the district police directly took part in the drives, Lutfur Rahman said.
