CHATTOGRAM, Sept. 24 -- Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 600 bags of urea fertilizer worth an estimated Tk 21 lakh while it was being smuggled to Myanmar from Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Wednesday midnight.

Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander, said on Thursday that the drive was conducted around 12:30am the previous night based on secret information.

Two individuals were detained alongside two trucks used in the smuggling attempt during an operation conducted by Coast Guard Station Bhatiari in the Banshbaria Ghat area.

The Coast Guard team intercepted the fertilizer, weighing approximately 30,000 kg across 600 bags, while it was being transferred from a truck onto a cargo boat bound for Myanmar.
