, June 24 -- Four separate proposals to import diesel through the direct procurement method (DPM) in response to energy security concerns were withdrawn from discussion at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.

According to official meeting documents, the proposals were placed before the committee by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division seeking policy approval for emergency fuel imports to meet the country's urgent energy demand amid an unstable geopolitical situation.

The proposals included the procurement of a total of 525,000 metric tonnes of diesel from four international suppliers through direct procurement.
