Rangpur, Aug. 25 -- The investigation into the killing of a retired teacher and three members of his family in Rangpur has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of police after questions raised over the police account of the incident.

The investigation was transferred to the DB to ensure a more transparent and comprehensive investigation and to facilitate the submission of a charge sheet quickly, said Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty on Tuesday.

The case was previously being investigated by the Kotwali Police Station.
