Dhaka, May 23 -- At least four people were killed and around 20-25 others injured after a passenger bus carrying around 50 people lost control and fell into a roadside ditch in front of Shialdangi Mosque in Khoksa upazila of Kushtia on Saturday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed yet.

Officer-in-Charge of Kushtia Highway Police Station Abu Obayed confirmed this accident occurred.

The OC said a Tanhha Paribahan bus was travelling from Rajbari towards Kushtia when it nearly collided with a van.

"In an attempt to avoid hitting the van, the driver lost control after a sand-laden truck came from the opposite direction, and the bus fell into the ditch," he said.
