Thakurgaon, May 19 -- Four people, including a child, died in separate incidents across Thakurgaon district over the past 24 hours, casting a pall of grief over several families.

The deaths, caused by electrocution, choking on a lychee seed, suicide and pesticide ingestion, occurred in Pirganj, Ranishankail and Baliadangi upazilas.

In Pirganj upazila, Mithun Roy, 30, a carpenter and son of Surendra Roy from Khetgaon Sindullah village under Daulatpur union, was electrocuted on Monday afternoon while working on a tin roof at a house owned by Anwar Muhuri. Locals rushed him to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
