, Sept. 23 -- Three people were killed and three others injured when a truck hit an auto-rickshaw on Joydebpur-Tongi Road in Dhirasram area of Gazipur city on Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident occurred around noon in front of Dhirasram GK High School when the truck hit the Joydebpur-bound auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot and four others injured, said Aminul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, where another victim died later.

Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.
