, Sept. 22 -- A Dhaka court on Tuesday convicted three people and sentenced them to life imprisonment for killing a man in the New Market area of the capital in 2002.

Judge of the Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court-4, Mosaddek Minhaz handed down the punishment.

The convicts are Salauddin alias Salauddin, Nadim and Md Ramjan.

The court also fined each of them Tk 20,000, in default to serve two more months in jail.

It also issued arrest warrants against them as they were absconding.

According to the prosecution, Zahirul Islam Zahir was stabbed to death by the convicts over previous enmity in front of Hasan Hotel at New Market Kitchen Market in the capital on July 29, 2002.
