Chapainawabganj, Aug. 17 -- month-old baby drowned in separate incidents in flood-affected areas of Chapainawabganj Sadar and Shibganj upazilas on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mojahidur Rihan, 7, and Abdullah Al Arian, 5, both from the Charmohanpur-Chakpara area under Chapainawabganj municipality, and Abu Sayeed, 13 months, from Dasharashia village in Shibganj upazila.

Matiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, said the lower-lying areas of Charmohanpur have been inundated following a rise in the water level of the Mahananda River. Rihan and Arian reportedly drowned while playing near a flooded pond.
