Dhaka, Nov. 2 -- foot-wide road is being constructed in the Ghuntighar area of Gandaria in the capital following the eviction of drug dens, with the removal of illegal structures along the railway line progressing rapidly, Dhaka-6 MP Ishraque Hossain said on Monday.

He expressed hope that the road would ease movement for local residents and help law enforcement agencies strengthen patrols to control drug-related activities in the area.

Ishraque made the remarks while talking to reporters after visiting Ghuntighar in Gandaria at noon.

He said drug dens had developed across an area of nearly 2.5 kilometres along the railway line, where illegal structures had been built on railway land. Drug consumption, sale and various other illegal act...
