Dhaka, June 27 -- Two people have been arrested in connection with killing a dog by throwing it into a river with a brick tied around its neck in Narsingdi.

In a statement on Saturday, the Narsingdi Superintendent of Police said a video circulated on social media on Thursday showed a dog being thrown into the river from the Nagriyakandi Bridge in Narsingdi district.

The dog had a rope tied around its neck, with a brick attached to the other end.

The incident recently went viral on social media, sparking widespread public outrage.

On the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, Narsingdi Sadar Police conducted a raid and arrested the main accused, Mohammad Ali, 25, son of Abdur Rob of Kamargaon village in Narsingdi.
