Dhaka, July 9 -- The government has promoted 179 senior assistant secretaries to the rank of joint secretary.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications to this end on Thursday.

According to a notification, 172 of the newly promoted officials have been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as officers on special duty (OSD), as they have not yet been given new postings.

A separate notification said seven other officials serving in Bangladesh missions in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland and South Africa have also been promoted to the rank of joint secretary.
