Natore, Sept. 13 -- State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin on Sunday said the government wants to resolve the country's power and energy crisis in a way that will reduce Bangladesh's dependence on others in the future.

"People of the country are facing problems with oil, gas and electricity. The Prime Minister and members of the government have repeatedly expressed regret to the people over these problems," she said.

The state minister made the remarks at a meeting of the district law-and-order committee at the Natore deputy commissioner's conference room in the morning.

She said the people will assess how much confidence the government has been able to gain in the first seven months of office.
