Dhaka, March 11 -- A woman who sustained severe burn injuries in a fire caused by an explosion, apparently triggered by a gas line leak at a house in Dhamrai, died on Wednesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Sumana Akhter, 45.

She died around 6:30 pm while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the institute.

He said four members of the same family were admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Wednesday after suffering burn injuries in the incident.

Among them, Sumana had suffered 95 percent burns and succumbed to her injuries in the evening.
